FOCUS

Existing buildings located on the site were already positioned at prime visibility locations. High priority was placed on visibility of new construction, interfacing new buildings and existing building traffic flow and use, and future expansion all within a confined area of prime visablity.

STRATEGY

The existing buildings were used to create an east-west framework, "a window of view for the new construction". The first phase, a multi-use facility was positioned between the existing buildings and to the rear of the buildable site area. Acting as a visual backdrop and terminus to the complex, color, texture and building form were used to draw the eye past the existing buildings to the new Phase I centerpiece.

Phase II, a planned sanctuary, is masterplanned to interface with the new multi-use facility, as well as the existing buildings and will be placed in front of the multi-use center and partly between the two existing buildings.

Phase II will be designed with more "mass impact" to maintain an emphasis as the site focal point and de-emphasize the existing buildings flanking the sanctuary, thus completing a new image for the entire facility.
